Dear Moderator

Dear Moderator, My name is Lily Warrington Candidate No. 1732 , welcome to my A Level Media Studies blog. This is a record of the work I have undertaken for the Making Media (Component 03/04) non-examined assessment (NEA) within the OCR H409 GCE A Level course in Media Studies.  I worked independently  on Brief 4: music video and online to produce a three-minute music video for a fictional dance artist signed to Universal Music, and the working website for my artist. My production is aimed at a culturally sophisticated, 15+ class AB demographic.  Below you will find evidence of my research and planning for this task, including:  * my research into professionally produced music videos and artist websites that are similar in genre, style and form to those proposed in my chosen production brief. This includes:  * My deconstruction, analysis and notes on these professionally produced music videos and artist websites that has developed my knowledge and understanding  of my chosen me

Treatment

Treatment  Song title - 7Ring Genre - Dance music Duration - 3min Target Audience - 15+ Female Rational - I chose this song because I feel like I can create a really ascetically pleasing music video, with different locations and probs that will benefit the overall effect of the video. Character - Main character ( artist ) - boyfriend  Budget - Relatively low budget meaning I will have to improvise and get creative

Update On coursework

Working with the song 7 Ring was very challenging as it has no words and the idea's i had were very to hard to pull of as i was struggling to find dancers and actors capable to do what i had imagined.  the crazy ideas that are going though my mind. - still shots - editing effects - lighting changes - various locations and many more I cant wait to piece it all together and see the final outcome. I defiantly feel like my overall ideas are much better then my previous song choice's music video. For my Website I have been looking for templates I like on both Wix.com and Squarespace.com. I have found a few I like but they don't fit the theme I would like to portray for my Artist. So what i'm planning to do is find any template and start from basics; configuration, changing fonts, colours and the list goes on. My next task to complet would be to get a name for my artist as the old name i had would not suit the new artist.

Working on my website

- Picking a style for "Rose Carter" was tricky as i wanted a very plain but chic website style. The simple leafs and bold colours help create this feeling. - Creating a web domain .... www.RoseCarter.net - adding music

frame analysis

Justin Bieber - Where are you now Justin Bieber's newest music video sees Justin teaming up with Skrillex and Diplo to create a video which has 'artistic flair'. Justin invited his fans to draw on each individual frame of his music video to create the vibrant video. The drawings do not have great meaning as a whole, they have been used more for the effect as each drawing is shown for an extremely small amount of time, as well as the video drawing attention because of the process behind it, it also sends a message to his fans. Certain sections of the video do not show drawing on any frames, this allows the audience to concentrate of the lyrics and view Justin Singing them. This variation makes the video feel very controlled and makes the moments where the cartoon drawing and phrases are shown to be even more eye catching.

History Of Dance Music Videos

In the mid-60s, US soul singer James Brown developed a new style of music called funk. In soul music the melody and lyrics are central, but in funk the rhythmic groove is central. A funk groove can continue for a long time without chord changes, and funk songs in the 60s often lasted for ten minutes or more. By the early 70s, nightclubs called discos were employing DJs to play dance tracks because it was cheaper than hiring a band. At first they played funk and up-tempo soul tracks, but in the mid-70s they started playing tracks with a new rhythm that was easier to dance to. Another new genre of dance music called techno developed in Detroit in the early 80s when club DJs began making electronic dance tracks. They used drum machines to create electronic rhythms and synthesizers with keyboards to add chords and melodies. Another style that developed in the 90s is drum and bass (or "DnB"). Most DnB has very deep bass sounds, jazzy breakbeat rhythms, and is very fast and a
